Ukrainian rocket operators who sank the Russian warship Vasily Bekh trained in US - Pentagon
Ukrainian military personnel who sank a Russian warship with Harpoon missiles in June studied in the United States.
U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense Bill LaPlante said this at a security conference.
"We removed them (missiles. - Ed.) from the ship, put them on several on-board trucks, put harpoons, modules on the on-board truck, and then another on-board truck for the power source, connected it with a cable, found out that it can be exported, Ukrainians who will train on it came to us, and the next week two Russian ships were sunk by these Harpoons," said Laplante. He specified that one of them was "Vasily Beh".
The missiles were handed over to Ukraine by a US ally, whom the US official did not name.
The second on-board truck served as a "source of energy," Laplante said.
"There's incredible innovation happening right now, and we're just not talking about it enough," he said.
