Ukrainian parliament approves appeal to UN to exclude Russia from organization
The Verkhovna Rada with 314 votes "in favour" approved an appeal to the UN to exclude Russia from this international organization
Ukrainian member of parliament Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported this on Telegram.
"Parliament approved the statement regarding the need to reform the UN and the illegitimacy of the Russian Federation's presence in it. 314 deputies voted for the relevant resolution No. 8229," the parliamentarian wrote.
Thus, the resolution refers to the recognition of the Russian regime as a terrorist, the illegitimacy of the Russian Federation's presence in the UN and the reform of the organization.
"The Russian Federation considers itself the legal successor of the USSR, although in 1991 the USSR, as a state and a subject of international law, ceased to exist. Therefore, the Russian Federation cannot have the status of a successor state of the USSR," explained the speaker of the Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine’s parliament - ed.) Ruslan Stefanchuk. “It is absurd that a terrorist state can influence the decisions of the UN and even more so - to veto them,” he added.
