Ukrainian official explains Russia's motivation for attacking Kharkiv region

Bohdan Tkachuk, a member of the Kharkiv District Council, believes that Russia's motivation for attacking Kharkiv region is to intimidate society and thus attempt to force Ukraine to peace

He said this on Espreso TV.

"It's hard to link this to the events at the front, because these attacks have no impact on the situation on the front line. I think there are some other reasons. The reasons are that it is necessary to intimidate society as much as possible, to raise the degree of hatred and, perhaps, to encourage peace, as Putin supporters believe," he said.

Tkachuk added that this is why the Russian army refused to use the inaccurate and unreliable S-300 systems that they used to fire at border regions of Ukraine, because some of these missiles "simply remained in the Belgorod region without reaching or falling."

"That's why they turned to terror with expensive Iskander missiles, which are quite accurate, fast, and ballistic missiles. And that's why we are talking about the word "genocide" in the case of the village of Hroza. And this is all escalation, today Vovchansk is added, I don't think they will stop - they will continue to do so, because there are no military targets nearby, and what is happening now in the village of Hroza is a horror," he emphasized.

Russian attacks in Kharkiv region

On October 5, the Russian army hit a cafe in the village of Hroza, Kupyansk district, killing 52 people. The Security Service of Ukraine is looking for the gunner. Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said during the telethon that the cafe was having a memorial dinner at the time of the attack, which is why there were so many people there. The village has a population of just over 300 people.

On the morning of October 6, the Russian occupation army attacked Kharkiv. A 10-year-old boy was found dead under the rubble, and later his grandmother was found.

On Friday, October 6, Russian terrorists once again shelled the city of Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region. As a result, 3 people were injured.
