Ukrainian army destroys 990 Russian soldiers, 42 tanks, 32 artillery systems in one day - General Staff

Over the past day, Ukrainian defenders repelled Russian attacks in the Kupyansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions. At the same time, Russia lost almost 1,000 soldiers

The total combat losses of the Russian Federation from February 24, 22 to October 12, 23 are estimated to be:

  • personnel - about 284,890 (+990 people) 
  • tanks - 4,905 (+42)
  • armored combat vehicles - 9,129 (+91)
  • artillery systems - 6,763 (+32)
  • MLRS - 811 (+2)
  • air defense systems - 545
  • aircraft - 316

Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled enemy attacks in 5 directions, 95 combat engagements took place over the day

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. 

At the same time, the Russian army continued shelling the entire borderline with mortars and artillery: over 25 settlements across the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were attacked. 

Russian attacks in frontline Ukrainian regions

In the Kupyansk direction, 10 settlements of the Kharkiv region came under artillery shelling. 

In the Lyman direction, over 15 settlements in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions came under Russian fire. 

In the Bakhmut direction, over 20 localities in the Donetsk region were attacked by the invading Russian forces. 

In the Avdiivka direction, more than 10 settlements in the Donetsk region were attacked. 

In the Marinka direction, over 10 settlements in the Donetsk region came under shelling.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, over 10 localities in the Donetsk region were shelled. 

In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, about 40 towns and villages were subjected to numerous attacks by the occupying Russian army. 

Ukrainian Defense Forces continue their offensive in the Melitopol sector. They have improved the tactical situation in the area west of Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region. Ukrainian soldiers are inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the invading Russian forces, depleting the enemy.

Russian army launched 2 missile strikes and 72 airstrikes against Ukraine

Over the past day, 95 combat engagements took place.

In addition, a missile attack by Russian terrorist forces on a gymnasium in Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk region, resulted in civilian casualties and injuries. Private houses and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

Also, on the night of October 12, Russia launched another airstrike on Ukraine, using Shahed-136/131 UAVs.

In total, the Russian troops launched 2 missile strikes, 72 airstrikes, and about 67 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems at the Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas.

Defense Forces hit the Russian manpower concentration area

Over the past day, the Defense Forces' aviation launched 12 strikes on the invading Russian troops' military positions. 

The missile troops hit the manpower concentration area, 9 artillery pieces, a munitions depot and a radar station.

  • On the night of October 12, Russian terrorists attacked Ukraine with drones. The alarm was raised in the south and center. Hits in Kharkiv were recorded.
  • Russia launched 33 drones across the territory of Ukraine. The Ukrainian Air Defense Forces destroyed 28 drones.
