Ukrainian Air Force explains difficulty of mastering Western fighters
The control system of Western fighters differs significantly from the Soviet ones. The training of two pilots will show how quickly modern combat aircraft can be mastered
Air Force Command spokesman Yuriy Ihnat said this during a telethon on March 7.
"They (the partners - ed.) want to understand the training level of Ukrainian pilots, because the philosophy of controlling Soviet equipment is somewhat different from the philosophy of controlling Western equipment. I gave an example: even the control knob of Soviet aircraft, fighter jets, is located in the middle, while in Western aircraft it is on the side. Onboard equipment also needs to be understood, how it works," he explained.
Ihnat added that two Ukrainian pilots who traveled to the United States will give an idea of how long it will take exercises.
The Air Force spokesperson noted that not only Ukrainian pilots, but also military engineers who ensure the operation of aviation must undergo exercises to master Western aircraft.

Earlier, the media reported that 10 more Ukrainian pilots may go to the United States for training.
