Ukraine’s Defense Minister unveils its troops' most pressing needs
Ukraine's Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov says that an air defense system that would close the country’s skies remains a priority for Ukraine
The minister made the statement in an interview with the Spanish outlet La Razon.
"Weapons, weapons and more weapons. The priority is an air defense system that would close our skies. I mean modern and more powerful weapons. Now we have MiG-29s that give us 60 kilometers of visibility and a target range of 30 kilometers. The Russian Su-35 has a range of over 200 kilometers and can hit at a distance of 150 kilometers," emphasized Oleksii Reznikov.
In particular, the minister noted that Ukraine needs to break Russian air dominance, which can be done with the help of F-16 fighter jets, Swedish Gripins or others.
"I am sure we will get them, just like we got battle tanks. Previously, it was artillery systems. I used to joke when I joined the ministry that my letter to Santa Claus was too long. Now there is only one thing we need: fighter jets. Everything else has been taken care of. Do you know Star Wars? Maybe the last thing is the Death Star," he said.
