Ukraine’s Air Force comments on Germany's permission to transfer MiG-29 aircraft to Ukraine
Soviet-model MiG-29 aircraft, which Poland keeps from the old GDR stocks and which Germany allowed to transfer to Ukraine, will help the Ukrainian Armed Forces in performing current tasks
Yuriy Ihnat, a spokesman for the Air Force Command, said this during a telethon on April 14.
According to him, these aircraft will strengthen the Armed Forces' military capabilities, but will not be able to change the course of the war.
"This will strengthen our capabilities, the capabilities of our tactical and fighter aviation brigades, of which there are three in Ukraine. This will help solve current problems. But for Ukraine to win, to gain air superiority, we need the fighters that everyone is talking about. These are F-16 aircraft. We want to get good modern weapons that will help turn the tide of the war," Ihnat said.
