Ukraine is not forced to start peace talks with Russia - international expert Kraiev
Despite the attempts of world leaders to mediate between Russia and Ukraine, Ukraine is not forced to start negotiations
This was stated on the air of Espreso TV by the expert of the Foreign Policy Council Ukrainian Prism Oleksandr Kraiev.
"Over the past few months, every world leader who has geopolitical ambitions, everyone who wants to gain a foothold as a pole of power is trying to push himself as a negotiator in potential talks between Russia and Ukraine. We saw such attempts from Macron - he wanted to confirm his status as a European leader. We have seen such attempts from Erdogan. This is his geopolitical project in the context of the Turkic-speaking world. Indeed, Indian Prime Minister Modi has not yet expressed such a position, but in fact India is always ready for such a turn of events," he said.
According to Kraiev, India considers itself a standard of neutrality and moderation.
"If we talk about the UN Secretary General, it is the most neutral option. We see that Americans, Europeans, British did not speak against the presence of any moderator. Fortunately, all our allies adhere to the same line - only Ukraine should decide when and on what conditions to start negotiations. So far, despite some European statements, quotes of some American congressmen, no one is forcing us to choose a moderator, a platform and start negotiations. There will most likely be a mediator, but no one is imposed on us," the expert concluded.
