UK to provide Ukraine with 600 Brimstone missiles
British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace announced the transfer of 600 Brimstone missiles to Ukraine, which can be used against massive concentrations of enemy armored vehicles
The minister noted that Britain has unblocked a number of military aid packages over the past year and is "going further" by transferring a squadron of Challenger 2 main battle tanks to Ukraine, the Guardian reports.
According to Ben Wallace, Britain will also send Ukraine at least three batteries of AS-90 155 long-range deep artillery, and a number of armored vehicles, including Bulldog.
"Today I can say we’re also going to send another 600 Brimstone missiles into theatre which will be incredibly important in helping Ukraine dominate the battlefield," the UK defense minister said.
Brimstone is a surface-to-surface or air-to-surface missile developed by the MBDA
UK consortium for the British Royal Air Force. It can be used against concentrations of enemy armored vehicles. After leaving the launcher, the rocket engine accelerates the missile to supersonic speed. This engine has a short burn time and very low smoke production, providing a very small visual and infrared trail, which minimizes the possibility of detection by the enemy.
