This was stated by the US President's National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan.
"As we have already warned for several months, it seems that Russia will hold fictitious referendums in the territories occupied by it in Ukraine," Sullivan said.
The adviser to the US president added that the holding of pseudo-referendums in the temporarily occupied territories is a "flagrant violation of the sovereignty of Ukraine."
"Russia is in a hurry to hold referendums in response to Ukrainian military gains and in preparation for mobilization," Sullivan added.
