Successful Ukrainian counteroffensive in south may turn into operation to liberate Crimea - General Malomuzh
General of the Ukrainian Army Mykola Malomuzh is convinced that during the counteroffensive, the Ukrainian army can liberate not only the occupied territories of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions, but also the Crimean peninsula
He expressed his opinion on the Espreso TV channel.
"There will be intensification of hostilities in the Kharkiv region. Now we see that the Russian forces are accumulating weapons and equipment at the tactical level near the border with Ukraine. Therefore, it is likely that they will provoke the Ukrainian military in this area. They need this to distract our units from the east, first of all, and also to prevent us from involving reserves that could be used for offensive operations," explained Malomuzh.
The General of the Ukrainian Army is convinced that a successful offensive in southern Ukraine could turn into an operation to liberate the occupied Crimea.
"The east and south of Ukraine remain very important areas. If we move with powerful forces in the south, we can not only liberate the temporarily occupied territories of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions, but also enter Crimea. It will all depend on the success of our counteroffensive, which could lead to panic and the Russian army's escape. And this will be a prospect for the liberation of Crimea," he added.
