On November 29, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier called for additional aid to Ukraine during a visit to the logistics center of the German Red Cross Society at the Berlin airport before departing for North Macedonia.
"Millions of people are now facing winter in the dark and cold," Steinmeier said.
The president called on German cities and municipalities to enter into partnership relations with Ukraine for more help in view of the onset of winter: "By doing this, help can be provided non-bureaucratically, from person to person."
Steinmeier also asks for donations so that humanitarian organizations can purchase necessary equipment, including generators and heaters.
