Shahed UAVs attack on December 19 was largest: Russian forces launched 35 drones to attack Ukraine
On December 19, the Russians launched 35 Shahed ‘kamikaze’ drones to attack Ukraine. This attack by Iranian drones was one of the largest in terms of number of drones
This was announced during a media briefing by Yurii Ihnat, the spokesman for the Air Force Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
"On St. Nicholas' Day, the Russian forces greeted us with one of the largest Shahed attacks in terms of number. 35 attack UAVs were launched over the territory of Ukraine - they had never released such a number of Shaheds before," he said.
According to him, these drones were from a new batch of 250 drones that the Russian forces received from Iran.
"And we have, after a relatively long pause when they didn't use them, 67 downed UAVs of this type since December 7. It's just downed. Of course, not all of them are shot down. Sometimes 100% are shot down. But during yesterday's attack 5 UAVs still hit some objects and the civilian sector," Ihnat added.
