Russia’s nuclear threats will not impact our provision of military support to Ukraine - Pentagon
Statements by Russia regarding the possible use of nuclear weapons will not affect the provision of military aid to Ukraine by the US and its allies.
This was stated by Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder in a comment to journalists on September 22, Ukrinform reports.
"As for the statements or announcements coming from Russia, they do not affect the continuation of the Pentagon's close cooperation with our international partners and our allies to provide Ukraine with the support it needs in its struggle," he emphasizes.
The United States will continue to negotiate with Ukraine about what it needs in the medium and long term, as well as now.
"From where we sit right now, we haven't seen anything that would cause us to change our position. Of course, we will continue to monitor this closely and take any rhetoric seriously. But, again, at this stage we don't see anything that indicates that we need to change our approach," Ryder said in response to the nuclear threats.
The Pentagon also commented on the announcement of partial mobilization in the Russian Federation.
"On all fronts, this could solve the human resources problem for Russia, but it is not clear whether it could significantly affect the command and control, logistics, supply and, importantly, morale problems that we have seen in the Russian forces in Ukraine,”Ryder said.
