Russians intimidate Melitopol residents and encourage them to inform on pro-Ukrainian citizens
City’s mayor Ivan Fedorov reported this on Telegram.
"After 10 months of resistance, Russians remembered methods of "state security" and made life in the occupied territories even more unbearable. In order to break the will of residents of the occupied territories, Russian invading forces remembered the experience of the KGB, who intimidated Ukrainians almost 100 years ago, and decided to repeat," Fedorov believes.
Russian invading forces publish information about Ukrainian citizens on Telegram channels, where they encourage residents of temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia region to anonymously report on their neighbours for money.
Also, Russian occupying forces harrass Ukrainians with “preventive talks” and torture them. Those who do not surrender are deported outside the occupied territory without belongings.
In addition, Russians have created and advertised chatbots where you can report on "Ukrainian partisans" – that is on every resident with pro-Ukrainian position.
"Russian troops have another wave of aggression due to the fact that our city does not surrender. The occupiers are pissed off and are raging because Melitopol is Ukraine!" mayor emphasised.
