Russians collect Ukrainian defenders' data by sending SMS with questionnaires to their relatives
Russian web resources mass-send messages to the Ukrainian defenders' families, offering to fill out a questionnaire that will help find a POW in Russia or in the Ukrainian territories occupied by it
This was reported on the website of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
In particular, it is noted that under the guise of "assistance" to families searching for missing persons, Russian special services are collecting personal data, which eventually may harm the Ukrainian defenders in captivity and prevent their release.
The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War strongly recommends to the relatives of Ukrainian military:
to ignore any third party unofficial messages;
not to provide any personal information about your relatives to suspicious persons/sites/Telegram channels;
to report cases of illegal collection of personal data to Ukraine's law enforcement agencies.
“For the sake of the safety of the Ukrainian military, all issues related to their stay in captivity should be discussed with the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War — the only specialized state institution that deals with issues of assistance and release from captivity,” the post says.
