Russian war crimes: Latvian prosecutors visit Ukraine on fact-finding mission, review over 50 testimonies
Latvian prosecutors have visited Ukraine several times to verify the facts of war crimes committed by Russia.
This was stated by the Prosecutor General of Latvia Juris Stukans, Delfi reports.
Prosecutors from Latvia listened to more than 50 testimonies, in more than 20 cases information was provided that can be used in the investigation. Investigators are also collecting audio and video recordings. According to Stukans, in a number of cases prosecutors went to Ukraine to check the facts.
Latvian law enforcement officers are investigating, in particular, murders and other crimes committed by the Russian army against civilians.
Earlier, on March 15, the State Security Service of Latvia started a criminal trial regarding war crimes and crimes against peace and humanity committed by the Russian armed forces.
In August, Latvia recognized Russia as a sponsor of terrorism and called on the EU to suspend visas for Russians and Belarusians.
