Russian forces use ammunition depots in unrecognized Transnistria to smuggle weapons.
The Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine's Armed Forces reported this in Telegram.
According to Main Intelligence Directorate representative Vadym Skibitsky, a taskforce of Russian troops are deployed to unrecognized Transnistria for mobilization exercises training counter-offensive and defensive action. They use ammunition from warehouses in Kolbasna village, but investigations have shown that not all the ammunition acquired by Russian forces is used for this designated purpose.
Skibitsky explained said that the current situation in the region clearly indicates Russia’s intention to use Transnistria as an additional springboard for aggression not only against Ukraine, but also for possible action against the Republic of Moldova.
"We are monitoring the development of the situation in Transnistria. There is now a serious struggle between the authorities and the special services of the Russian Federation are very active. Terrorist attacks committed in Transnistria were aimed at forcing the Pridnestrovian leadership to agree to an expanded presence of Russian troops", Skibitsky said.
He added that explosions at the facilities will be presented as a threat to the region’s population and as a signal to the leadership of the Republic of Moldova to abandon their current, pro-European, policy. The main goal is to see this region fall completely under Moscow’s control, which has been a Russian goal for 30 years.
