U.S. Presidential change – opportunity for Ukraine that must be seized, says MP Syniutka
Ukraine must seize all the opportunities presented by the re-election of the U.S. president
This opinion was expressed by Ukrainian MP Oleh Syniutka on Espresso TV.
"We already had a similar experience in Ukrainian history when the administration of Obama transitioned to that of Trump during Russia's aggression. At that time, it was used as an opportunity, as Obama's administration did not make the decision to provide lethal weapons. The first meeting between President Poroshenko and Trump, which was supposed to be a photo-op, ended with a two-hour conversation, after which lethal weapons were sent to Ukraine. These are very important matters. We must understand that the arrival of a new president is an opportunity," he noted.
Regarding Trump, we are receiving many alarming signals, but there are also positive updates. In particular, Trump's statement about increasing oil production in the United States is a firm "hello" to Putin. Today, there is no other option but to cooperate with Trump's administration. However, we must be grateful to Biden's administration. It is critical to maintain bipartisan support, the MP noted.
"We need to hear this. When the right-wing came to power in Italy, everyone feared that the right-wing prime minister would have a negative stance towards Ukraine. But today, Italy is a promoter of Ukraine in Europe and the world. Professionalism, patriotism, and unity are what can help the country today," added Sinyutka.
- Donald Trump made it clear that his priority is the U.S. He will seek strong allies and pragmatic ideas, and whether Ukraine fits into his vision depends entirely on Ukraine's ability to present its experience and strategy as valuable.
