Russia suffers heavy losses but fails to gain ground in Kupyansk sector — Achilles Battalion
Oles Maliarevych, deputy commander with the 92nd Brigade's Achilles Battalion, says that the Defense Forces remain stationed on the left bank of the Oskil River and have no intention of retreating
He stated this on Espreso TV.
"The brigade is operating in two areas: the north of the Kharkiv region, near Hlyboki Lyptsi, and in the Kupyansk area. In Hlyboki Lyptsi, the defense holds strong, and the enemy hasn’t advanced, though they keep attempting assaults. The Kupyansk direction, however, covers a much larger combat area. The enemy is trying to take the left bank of the Oskil River, crossing it using rafts," Maliarevych explained.
According to him, the enemy initially aimed to seize the left bank of the Oskil River by November 1, then extended the deadline to January 1. Currently, the Defense Forces hold their positions on the left bank and are not leaving.
"In the areas around Kruhlyakivka and Kolesnykivka, the enemy hasn’t managed to expand their bridgehead. They’re attempting advances from the Borova side. Their goal is to capture Kolesnykivka to broaden their foothold, but several strong brigades are holding the line," Maliarevych noted.
He also highlighted that the occupiers are suffering significant losses.
"But we can’t understand why this doesn’t stop them. They’re throwing bodies into every position. Even after losing hundreds of soldiers, they haven’t gained any ground in this direction," Maliarevych stressed.
- As of January 21, there have been 121 combat clashes across the Russian-Ukrainian front. Russia is focusing its heaviest attacks in the Pokrovsk direction.
