Ukraine's Armed Forces refute claims of 99,000 Russian troops lost in Chasiv Yar battle
The Ukrainian Armed Forces has stated that the Forbes report claiming Russia lost up to 99,000 troops in the battle for Chasiv Yar is exaggerated
Nazar Voloshyn, the spokesperson for Ukraine's Khortytsia troop grouping, made this statement during the Unired News telethon.
On July 4, Forbes published a story about the battle for the Kanal neighborhood in Chasiv Yar, where Ukrainian forces had to retreat to more favorable positions. The article, citing military experts, claimed that Russian losses in this battle amounted to 99,000 soldiers.
Voloshyn clarified that this figure is more accurate when considering the entire frontline in eastern Ukraine over three months, according to experts and analysts. In Khortytsia troop grouping's area of responsibility, Russia lost over 24,000 troops in April, nearly 26,000 in May, and almost 32,000 in June.

The Ukrainian military provided an approximate number of Russian losses for the entire period of active hostilities around the settlement.
"I won't dispute the experts, but the figure for Chasiv Yar is too high. For the entire period of active hostile operations to destroy the Kanal neighborhood, around 5,000 Russian personnel were killed and buried in the forest strips," Voloshyn emphasized.
