Germany to supply Ukraine with IRIS-T air defence system in May - German Ambassador Jaeger
Ukraine already has several IRIS-T air defence systems, and this month, in May, Germany will supply one more system
This was announced by German Ambassador to Ukraine Martin Jaeger on the United News telethon.
He emphasized that Germany had committed to supplying new IRIS-T systems to Ukraine this year, as well as in the following years up to 2026, demonstrating a "consistent effort."
IRIS-T SLM in Ukraine
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced on June 1, 2022, that Germany would provide Ukraine with modern air defence systems. Subsequently, the IRIS-T SLM air defence system was included in the list of weapons that Germany pledged to supply to Ukraine.
The first system arrived in Ukraine on October 12, and shortly afterwards, Scholz promised Ukraine three more air defence systems, "each capable of defending a large city". During the first baptism of fire, the IRIS-T system shot down 100% of its targets.
