Ukraine returns 11 children from Russian occupation, including two orphans
Ukraine has managed to return 11 children, including 2 orphans, from the temporarily occupied Kherson region. The children are aged one to 16
Head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration Oleksandr Prokudin reported this.
According to him, two orphaned girls, aged 10 and 13, were taken to the government-controlled territory. Another nine children, 5 girls and 4 boys, aged 1 to 16, have parents or one of their parents.
"This became possible thanks to the charity organization Save Ukraine, the guardianship and custody authorities, as well as the service for children in the region and the children's parents," the statement says.
Prokudin noted that the children are now safe and are being provided with the necessary medical and psychological assistance.
"I am grateful to everyone who helps Ukrainian citizens to leave for free land. Since the beginning of 2024, we have managed to return 78 children from the Kherson region to the territory controlled by Ukraine," added the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration.
- On April 25, Russian Ombudsman for Children's Rights Maria Lvova-Belova said that Russia and Ukraine had held "the first face-to-face talks" on the exchange of children. Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets denied this information.
