Ukraine becomes 5th world country to have its laser weapons
Ukraine has its own laser weapon called Tryzub. A project to use a ‘’queen‘’ drone with two FPVs is also being developed
This was stated by Colonel Vadym Sukharevskyi, Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, during his address to the participants of the conference ‘European Defense Industry: Prospects for Cooperation with the Ukrainian Defense Industry’, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
‘We can state that today Ukraine is, if I'm not mistaken, the fifth country that can say it has laser weapons. Today, we can shoot down aircraft at an altitude of more than 2 km with this laser,’ he said.
It is noted that the Unmanned Systems Forces are now on the way to scaling up and strengthening the laser: ‘It really works, it really exists.’
In addition, Ukraine is developing the production of ‘queen’ drones, which carry light attack drones.
‘We are now using so-called ‘queen’ drones, FPV carriers, with a depth of entry of more than 70 km. They carry 2 FPVs underneath and actually act as a repeater and hit deep enemy targets. In my opinion, this is a real breakthrough,’ Sukharevskyi said.
- On December 11, the British Army successfully tested a high-energy laser weapon from an armored personnel carrier, destroying drones in the air.
