US supply of 105-mm 2-CT Hawkeye to Ukraine: how it can help Ukraine's Armed Forces

"Hawkeye is an interesting and revolutionary self-propelled gun. It has a high-tech recoil suppression system, preventing it from falling apart after several shots. It's currently being tested in the USA as an experimental model. However, such samples have also been supplied to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as announced by a representative of the US company AM General," he said.

The capabilities of the 2-CT Hawkeye self-propelled gun are provided by the 105 mm M-20 gun, says Katkov.

"The range is about 11 km. Due to the unitary loading, where the projectile and shell are loaded together, it has a high rate of fire. Despite manual feed, it can achieve eight shots per minute. It's highly mobile and effective in maneuvering, which is crucial in counter-battery fights," he added.

Ukraine is becoming a training ground, says Katkov.

"If AM General and others are ready to supply experimental weapons to prove their concepts, this is extremely positive. A mobile artillery system on wheels is advantageous in terms of mobility."
