SBU reserve colonel details indicators of potential Russian attack from Belarus
Mykhailo Prytula, a military expert, reserve colonel of the Security Service of Ukraine, and specialist in military counterintelligence, has expressed concerns that Russia may be planning a strike from the Belarusian direction
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"Belarusian troops have concentrated in the Gomel region, an area with a well-developed transport network that facilitates the movement of large numbers of personnel in echelons. Examining the map of the Russian invasion reveals a lack of attacks from this direction. However, a map released by Kyrylo Budanov on November 21, 2021, identified this route as a potential avenue for strikes, yet no such offensive has occurred from that direction," Prytula explained.
The SBU reserve colonel concluded that Russia is preparing a possible attack from the Belarusian direction.
"Russia is preparing a bridgehead to deploy personnel and launch an attack towards Zhytomyr, Berdychiv, Vinnytsia, and Kryzhopil, with a potential counterattack from Transnistria. It appears that these are their plans. Meanwhile, Lukashenko may either be signaling the possibility of a strike from that direction or may not be fully in control of the situation. Because the Belarusian army lacks the capacity to execute such an operation," said Prytula.
- Since the start of the operation in Kursk region, Belarus has deployed at least a thousand troops to the Gomel region bordering Ukraine.
- On August 25, reports emerged that Belarusian armed forces were relocating a substantial number of personnel to the border with Ukraine, ostensibly under the guise of military exercises. In response, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has called for an end to these unfriendly actions.
- The border with the Republic of Belarus in Ukraine's Zhytomyr region is ‘completely closed and the fortifications are ready.
