Russian troops set to launch new offensive in Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia region - local official
Petro Andriushchenko, advisor to the mayor of Mariupol, says that the Russian army is amassing its forces in the Zaporizhzhia region again
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"The Russians are making strange movements. If we take into account the trend of the last week, we see that the Russian army is again amassing its forces in the Zaporizhzhia region. And this time, we can say that they are pulling troops from different regions, including Novoazovsk and Donetsk. They are no longer moving towards the Zaporizhzhia region through Berdiansk or Prymorsk. Most often it is the direction of Rozivka-Polohy, Tokmak. That is, closer to the front line," noted Andriushchenko.
According to the adviser, it seems that such steps by Russian forces are aimed at accumulating a certain amount of reserves to launch a new wave of offensive in the Zaporizhzhia region.
"At the same time, we see them withdrawing reserves and units that were deployed for manning and training along the Azov Sea coast. These are Mariupol-Berdiansk agglomeration, Prymorsk, and Kyrylivka. From there, they are withdrawing and transferring reserves to the northern Donetsk region, where the most fierce fighting is taking place," emphasized Andriushchenko.
- On July 17, 114 combat clashes took place at the front. Most of the attacks were repelled in the Toretsk direction.
- Anatoliy Sydorenko, deputy commander with the 60th Brigade's 97th Battalion from the Lyman direction, noted that Russia keeps on trying to capture Terny.
