Russian soldiers have shot dead unarmed Ukrainian prisoners in the village of New York in Donetsk region. A drone recorded this war crime
The official channel of the 12th Azov Special Forces Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine reported the information.
"The Russians shot three unarmed Ukrainian soldiers from one of the neighboring units at close range," the statement said.
Later, fighters from the 12th Azov Special Forces Brigade, along with the 49th Separate Assault Battalion, captured one of the Russians involved in the attack. The man, identified as Vyacheslav Delyagin, born in 1976, served in the Storm battalion.
During interrogation, the Russian soldier admitted that his command had ordered not to take prisoners but to shoot Ukrainian military personnel.
"There’s no time to deal with prisoners. Don’t take any prisoners," Delyagin said, quoting his superiors. "They gave the order to shoot. I don’t understand their orders or actions at all. We captured three people—'eliminate them.'"
In his testimony, he claims that he was a direct participant in the execution of the Ukrainian prisoners of war.
In addition, the man described in detail how his unit shot a group of Ukrainian POWs after receiving an order to do so from the commander.
“The senior officer contacted the command, and they responded on the radio: 'There is no time to deal with prisoners. Don't take them.' They gave the order to shoot them, which the group carried out,” he added.
