Russia removes Zelenskyy, Poroshenko from wanted list
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine, and Petro Poroshenko, a Member of Parliament and the former President of Ukraine, have been removed from the search database of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs
This information came to light through the Babel media outlet.
The inclusion of Zelenskyy and Poroshenko's profiles on the wanted list was discovered accidentally by Russian state news agencies on May 4th. However, as of now, the Russian Ministry's website no longer displays any results for their personal data.
Mediazona investigation revealed that both Zelenskyy and Poroshenko were enlisted in the search database by a standard unit of the Russian Interior Ministry operating in the temporarily occupied Donetsk region, with this action occurring no later than February 22nd. Despite this, the wanted profiles only gained attention in early May.
On May 6th, the Russian Interior Ministry clarified that it was merely a "technical executor" of the wanted list, emphasizing that decisions regarding inclusion or removal from the list are made by the Investigative Committee of Russia and its regional branches.
Subsequently, the wanted cards were taken down from the website.
