Russia launched 2,000 UAVs in October, half of them decoys, says Ukraine’s intelligence
In October, Russian troops launched nearly 1,000 decoy drones in an attempt to overload Ukraine's air defense systems. Two of these UAVs fell on neighboring Moldovan territory
The press service of Ukraine's Defense Intelligence reported the information.
In October 2024, Russia used more than 2,000 UAVs against Ukraine, with approximately half of them being decoys or fake targets designed to distract attention and overload Ukrainian air defense systems.
"These UAVs do not have a warhead. They are much smaller and cheaper than the Shahed-136/Geran-2, but thanks to the Luneburg lens, they radar-wise imitate them," said the Ukrainian intelligence.
A study of Russia's Parody drones revealed that even a primitive plywood drone is something Russia is unable to produce independently.
The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine adds that the Parody's flight controller module contains components manufactured by companies from China (Ebyte, Jiashan Jinchang Electron, Yangzhou Yangjie Electronic Technology), the United States (Texas Instruments, Cypress Semiconductor, InvenSense), Switzerland (STMicroelectronics) and Taiwan (SONiX Technology).
- On the morning of November 10, after a Russian UAV attack on Ukraine overnight, a drone was found in Moldova's Căușeni district. Later, another drone was found in the Rîșcani district.
