Russia builds up troops in Strilecha-Lyptsi area, near Vovchansk - Ukraine's top general
Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi says in which direction the Russian army is trying to build up forces
He posted this on his Facebook page.
He noted that he had worked in brigades and battalions defending the Kharkiv sector.
"Russia continues to build up its troops in the Strilecha-Lyptsi area and in the area of Vovchansk by deploying additional regiments and brigades from other directions and training grounds. However, these forces are not enough for a full-scale offensive and breakthrough of our defense," Syrskyi noted.
He emphasized that the Russian actions are complicated by the strengthening of the defense of Ukrainian troops “due to timely decisions to redeploy reserves to threatened areas.”
"The creation of the ammunition reserve also ensured the effective defeat of the Russian army and reduction of its offensive capabilities. Therefore, the enemy has switched to the tactics of hitting our positions with artillery fire and strikes from the guided bombs. In these circumstances, the physical destruction of aircraft carrying guided bombs, reconnaissance and fire control UAVs, electronic warfare protection of our troops, camouflage and the use of mock-ups are of paramount importance," said Syrskyi.
According to him, these are not new, but very urgent issues, the resolution of which directly affects the lives of Ukrainian defenders and the sustainability of defense.
"Therefore, first of all, we are taking urgent measures to improve the air defense control system, its automation and combination with ground forces firepower in conjunction with the electronic warfare system. In addition, I listened to each commander on readiness for active operations, made decisions on problematic issues, checked the practical work of the battalion commander to destroy the enemy's firing position," the Ukrainian Armed Forces' Commander-in-Chief added.
He noted that "there have been noticeably fewer problems due to the increased efficiency of the entire management vertical.”
- Over the past day, May 29, the Russian army lost 1,160 soldiers. Thus, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have killed 506,260 Russian servicemen.
