Prospects of Ukraine's victory in war are very high - General Mussayev

Alnur Mussayev, former head of the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan, believes that Ukraine has the best potential to win a war against Russia despite the powerful Russian military-industrial complex

He expressed this opinion on Espreso TV.

"If we focus on Russia, then yes, the potential there is enormous. According to many military experts and economists, they will have enough finances and military-industrial complex activities for another year and a half to two years. Yes, these two and a half to two years have to be survived, and first of all, Ukraine itself has to survive. Today, there are many objective assessments that much depends on Ukraine itself. In particular, faster training of pilots and other specialists, strengthening of unmanned aerial vehicles, which have proven themselves well, and many other things. And Ukraine will definitely have successes like the liberation of Kharkiv region, Kherson, and the Black Sea," Mussayev said.

The general stressed that the minor successes of the Russian occupation army do not mean that Russia has seized the initiative in the war. According to him, the increase in the production of the military-industrial complex of Western countries and Ukraine creates prospects for a better position for Kyiv not only on the battlefield, but also for potential negotiations with Russia:

"Everyone accuses me of being too optimistic. However, I just see the facts. Recently, in an interview, I think with Gordon, I said that I had bought shares in the military-industrial complex of the West. I personally bought a small share of Rheinmetall, Bayersistem, Lockheed and a few others. Now I am gaining large sums because the shares are rising. This is a powerful financial evidence of the strengthening of the military-industrial potential of the West. And this is a crucial indicator that Ukraine has a better prospect of winning this war - we are not saying that there is a victory, just that we will be there and dictate our terms in the event of peace talks. If today we are upset by some small successes of the Russian armed forces, this situation will change in the near future, I am sure," he added.

  • On February 20, it became known that the parties of the German government coalition had prepared a proposal for weapons for Ukraine, which, among other things, provides for the provision of long-range systems. However, the initiative does not explicitly mention Taurus cruise missiles.
  • At the Munich Security Conference, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that the "right moment" was needed to provide Ukraine with Taurus missiles.
  • On February 22, members of the German parliament voted in favour of a recommendation to provide Ukraine with long-range weapons. Presumably, this refers to Taurus missiles.
  • On February 24, the UK government decided to strengthen the artillery reserves of the Ukrainian Armed Forces with a package of ammunition worth £245 million (about $310 million), which is critical for warfare.
