U.S. delivers 83% of promised ammo, 67% of air defense aid to Ukraine, says Pentagon
Under the additional funding package from U.S. Congress, Ukraine has received 83% of its essential ammunition, 67% of its air defense equipment, and 60% of its firepower needs
Pentagon spokesperson Patrick S. Ryder stated this at a briefing.
It was noted that since Congress approved additional funding for Ukraine in April this year, the U.S. has withdrawn nearly $3.7 billion worth of weapons from Department of Defense stockpiles to transfer to Ukraine.
Specifically, 83% of the promised ammunition has already been delivered to Ukraine, including 155mm artillery shells, GMLRS rockets for HIMARS systems, missiles for Patriot and NASAMS, rocket projectiles, and more.
The U.S. also supplied 67% of other critical air defense equipment, such as Stinger and HAWK missiles, and 60% of firepower resources, including small-diameter bombs and 105mm ammunition.
According to the Pentagon representative, since April, the U.S. has delivered thousands of artillery shells, thousands of armored vehicles, thousands of HIMARS rockets and anti-tank weapons, dozens of artillery systems, hundreds of air defense missiles, one Patriot battery, and dozens of other systems to Ukraine.
"Together with our allies and partners, the deliveries of the strategic air defense system we committed to providing at the NATO summit are nearly completed," Ryder added.
He also clarified that as of November 12, the U.S. can provide Ukraine with weapons and equipment worth over $9 billion. Specifically, $7.1 billion is available through the PDA program, while an additional $2.2 billion is available through the USAI program, which involves ordering weapons from manufacturers.
- On April 20, the U.S. House of Representatives held a historic vote, during which they approved a $95 billion aid package for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan.
