Japanese company plans to start production of pickup trucks in Ukraine
Several Ukrainian manufacturers, together with a Japanese engineering company, plan to start manufacturing pickup trucks using large-node assembly technology in Ukraine
Ukraine's Ministry of Economy reports, citing the words of Economy Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko.
According to Svyrydenko, such plans of the Japanese company are a signal to other Japanese investors that localization of their products in Ukraine is a mutually beneficial cooperation. The minister said that during a meeting with more than 200 Japanese entrepreneurs, she called on other companies to open production facilities in Ukraine or localize their technologies in cooperation with Ukrainian companies.
The official noted that more than 40 key Japanese companies currently operate in Ukraine.
“Ukraine has a long-standing manufacturing and engineering tradition, a significant fleet of modern equipment, which makes Ukrainian industrial enterprises promising partners for production cooperation with Japanese companies. The government, for its part, offers support in the form of compensation for projects with significant investments and tax and customs benefits within industrial parks. Ukraine is also working with partners to develop war risk insurance instruments,” she emphasized.
In addition, Svyrydenko said that Japan has allocated approximately EUR 1.25 billion through NEXI initiatives, providing financial support for Japanese companies that are ready to invest and operate in the Ukrainian market.
