DPRK can send up to 1 million soldiers to war on order — military counterintelligence expert

Mykhailo Prytula, a military counterintelligence expert, SBU reserve colonel, noted that Ukraine needs to increase its military power, as a large number of DPRK manpower can become a serious burden

He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.

“If you look at the history of North Korea, you can see that this country could not exist without the Soviet Union. Moscow has always supported it since the Soviet Union occupied the Korean peninsula at the end of World War II and during the Korean War. That is, the entire history of the DPRK is a project of Soviet intelligence and Moscow. North Korea has always been friendly to Moscow,” Prytula explained.

The military expert recalled that the Iranian nuclear program was also created with the help of North Korean specialists. Therefore, the deployment of North Korean troops to Russia is not surprising.

“This is an expected event, because, in fact, it is a single whole. This is an alliance that did not emerge yesterday, but it is one organism that already existed 60-70 years ago,” Prytula emphasized.

The expert also added that Ukraine's partners should respond to the appearance of the DPRK military.

“The transit of North Korean soldiers is a one-way transit. No one will send them back 10,000 kilometers. They will be thrown into the most intense assaults, effectively making them expendable. They don’t require pay or any support. Unfortunately, this situation means we need to increase our military capacity because the influx of manpower will be a significant burden. The North Korean army is quite large and possesses a substantial mobilization resource, allowing them to easily deploy up to a million soldiers on demand,” Prytula suggested.

  • On Monday, October 21, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol met with British Foreign Secretary David Lammy in Seoul. The two sides agreed to cooperate in countering threats from the military ties between the DPRK and Russia.

  • NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that North Korean military participation in the war against Ukraine on the side of Russia would mean a “significant escalation.”
