'Brilliant, pragmatic solution': expert on Estonian anti-aircraft missiles to be produced in Ukraine
Defense Express editor-in-chief Oleh Katkov says that the anti-aircraft missiles that Frankenburg Technologies plans to produce in Ukraine will be very effective against Russian drones because of their small size
He said this on Espreso TV.
"As for the anti-aircraft missiles that the Estonian defense company plans to produce in Ukraine, this will seriously strengthen our air defense forces. Testing of these missiles is planned for next year in Ukraine. In the third quarter of 2025, the Estonian military-industrial company Frankenburg Technologies plans to start producing several hundred anti-aircraft missiles per week," Katkov said.
The expert emphasized that the small scale of the anti-aircraft missile allows them to be produced in large quantities, and that this type of missile will be effective against drones because of its size.
"In fact, this is a very mass production. Of course, the question arises: how can a small Estonian company produce hundreds of anti-aircraft missiles in one week? The answer is very simple. The fact is that this missile is not very big. It is the same as the one the company representatives held at the presentation. That is, on a 1-to-1 scale. And this is actually the most ingenious and pragmatic solution. Because why would you use anti-aircraft missiles designed to destroy airplanes to destroy drones? It's just inefficient," he added.
- On December 6, the Estonian military-industrial company Frankenburg Technologies announced that it plans to test its anti-aircraft missiles in Ukraine starting next year.
