Ukrainian forces seize tactical initiative in Kharkiv region - 92nd Brigade's battalion commander
Yuriy Fedorenko, commander of the Achilles assault air defense battalion of the 92nd separate assault brigade, explained that, thanks to the permission to strike with Western weapons on the territory of Russia, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are seizing a tactical initiative in the Kharkiv region
He said this on Espreso.
"We're successfully completing missions in the Kharkiv region, both in temporarily occupied territories and in Russia. With the permission to use Western weapons, including drones and precision armaments, we're effectively striking Russia. This has prevented the enemy from advancing close to our border with impunity," he said.
"Before we had permission to strike Russia, we were using drones effectively against various military targets. However, it wasn’t enough to make the enemy feel unsafe near our border," he explained.
According to Fedorenko, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are seeing success in the Strilecha-Hlyboke direction and in Vovchansk.
"The use of precision weapons has crippled the enemy's quick logistics near the border. Russia used to amass forces near the border to quickly invade. Now, with high-precision strikes, they have to pull back and change tactics, reducing their assault capabilities. Recent aid packages and UAV support from the Ukrainian nation have allowed us to strike effectively and consistently. This not only stabilizes the situation but also shifts the tactical initiative to us," he said.
Fedorenko stressed the ongoing effort, "I'm confident of our success. This isn’t just cautious optimism; it's confident optimism."
- Oleksandr Kovalenko, a military-political observer with the Information Resistance group, highlighted that Ukrainian Defense Forces have surrounded Russian troops at the Vovchansk aggregate plant, complicating their supply lines for food and ammunition.
