Ukraine's ethnic Russian population refuses to recognize U.S.-elected leaders: foreign disinfo for June 24
American blogger Candace Owens stated that Ukraine has always been a place for the U.S. to launder money
On June 24, Ukraine's Center for Countering Disinformation has published a selection of anti-Ukrainian desinformation that was published in the world media.
Disinformation: American blogger Candace Owens stated: "It's quite obvious that this is just a money laundering operation. It's quite obvious that we've been lied to for a long time about what's going on in this region. Ukraine has always been a place for the US to launder money."
Refutation: The blogger openly echoes the narrative of Russian propaganda aimed at distorting facts about support for Ukraine and fostering a hostile position towards Ukraine among citizens of Western countries.
Disinformation: The German-Finnish blogger Kim Dotcom wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) page: "Ukraine's ethnic Russian population has refused to recognize leaders elected by the U.S. for whom they did not vote. After 15,000 people were killed by the Ukrainian army, Russia intervened to liberate the affected regions and they joined Russia by referendum."
Refutation: Such disinformation statements aim to justify Russian aggression against Ukraine. The deaths of thousands of people between 2014 and 2022 in Ukraine are the result of Russia's illegal invasion and Russian shelling of Ukrainian territory. Additionally, the "referendum" mentioned by the blogger was illegitimate, violating international and Ukrainian law, and conducted under conditions of Russian terror.
