Russia strikes Ukraine's energy system with banned cluster munitions — Ukrainian official
Russian forces have changed tactics of attacking Ukraine's energy system and are using banned cluster munitions
Ukraine's Energy Minister, Herman Halushchenko, announced this during a United News telethon broadcast.
"The tactics of such strikes have changed, as has the weaponry. The Russians are now primarily using weapons with cluster munitions to inflict maximum damage on the energy system. However, the system is currently balanced," the statement reads.
According to Halushchenko, 2024 was the most challenging year for Ukraine's energy sector. Russia attacked the system every night, and from March to December, Russian troops carried out 13 massive attacks.
"Thanks to the repair campaign, we managed to restore part of the nine lost gigawatts. I won’t disclose the numbers, but the key point is that the system is currently balanced," emphasized Herman Halushchenko.
