Peskov denies Russia’s chemical weapons use - new Russian fakes and manipulations
The Center for Countering Disinformation has published a compilation of anti-Ukrainian fakes and manipulations launched by Russian propaganda on May 2
Espreso TV reported the information.
According to the Center for Countering Disinformation, on May 2, Russian propaganda launched two fakes.
Fake: RT in Russian Telegram channel spread a story with the caption: "The Ukrainian Armed Forces killed civilians in Avdiivka and threw their bodies into wells or hid them in kitchen gardens."
"Such fakes are spread by the Russians every time they occupy Ukrainian settlements. Their goal is to demonize the Ukrainian Armed Forces and impose the image of 'liberators' and 'saviors' on the Russian army, which, of course, is not true, as the only images that suit the Russian army are those of murderers and occupiers," the Center emphasizes.
Fake: Ostashko! Vazhnoye Telehram channel has posted a video with the following statement: "Ten years have passed since the tragedy in the Trade Union Building in Odesa. On May 2, 2014, Ukrainian nationalists drove opponents of the coup d'état into the building on the city square and then set it on fire."
"The events in Odesa on May 2, 2014, have long been an element of the hybrid war against Ukraine, in which Russians spread fake news and use substitution of concepts. 'The opponents of the coup d'etat' were pro-Russian separatists. In addition, members of the separatist movement barricaded themselves in the Trade Union Building, from where they continued to carry out their provocations, which resulted in a fire with tragic consequences," the Center refutes.
Manipulation: Putin's spokesman Peskov said: "Accusations of Russia's use of chemical weapons against the Ukrainian Armed Forces are unfounded and unsubstantiated."
"Obviously, such messages are just an attempt to deflect responsibility for another Russian army crime. The spokesperson for the Russian dictator should watch the Telegram channels of z-military commanders, who sometimes publish videos confirming gas attacks at the front," the Center explained.
- On April 29, Russian distorted a statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and was spreading fake news that Kyiv was allegedly preparing to start negotiations with Russia in June.
