Runway works there: Ukrainian Air Force comments on destruction at airfield in Saki
Despite the explosions at the Saki military airfield in occupied Crimea, Russia will be able to use it, the runway there survived.
Yuriy Ignat, the spokesman of the Air Force Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, stated this on the air of the All-Ukrainian telethon.
"This is a very strong "prick" for the enemy, unpleasant. More than 10 pieces of aviation equipment were destroyed. It is likely that both the flight crew and the engineering crew that serviced these aircraft were destroyed... Of course, the enemy hides these losses, and the pictures and videos show that there are traces of the Russian military being affected, red marks," said the spokesman.
This is certainly a very painful blow. In fact, this happened for the first time. We cannot say what exactly happened. We have official versions about strikes, he added.
But when asked whether the occupiers will restore the airfield, Yuriy Ignat answered in the affirmative.
"In fact, it was not necessary to restore it. The aircraft parking lot was hit by explosions. The equipment was destroyed. Perhaps the artillery weapons warehouse was destroyed: missiles and bombs that were stored there. Perhaps also the fuel and lubricants warehouse. The main thing at the airfield is the take-off and landing strip. The runway is working there. It is not problematic to restore the airfield," said the spokesman of the Air Force Command.
