Rheinmetall to start servicing tanks in Ukraine in coming days
German arms company Rheinmetall plans to start servicing tanks in Ukraine in the coming days
This was announced by Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger, DW reports.
"We will start servicing this month," the CEO said.
According to him, the first twelve employees from Ukraine have already started their training in Germany, and another twelve will join them.
He also confirmed his intention to start tank production in Ukraine as soon as possible: "It can happen quickly, there are enough well-equipped tank factories there from the Soviet era."
At some point, Ukraine must become independent in arms production, the CEO stressed.
"It cannot be the case that the West will pay all the bills forever, and President Zelenskyy also sees it that way," Papperger said.
Rheinmetall's CEO expects another special fund for the Bundeswehr to be created in addition to the €100 billion package already agreed upon.
