Putin and Shoigu attempting to throw more troops in Ukraine’s “meat grinder” - sociologist Yakovenko
Intentions to increase the size of the Russian army indicate that neither President Vladimir Putin nor Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu do not care about losses and have no idea about them
This was stated by Russian journalist and sociologist Igor Yakovenko in the program Studio West with Antin Borkovsky on Espreso TV channel.
"Shoigu says that instead of one million army there should be one and a half million, instead of 400 thousand contract soldiers we need 600 thousand. This is a kind of inertial, I would say Zhukovsky's, approach - an attempt to fill everything with corpses," he said.
According to Yakovenko, the number of armed forces in the current war is not crucial.
"After all, does it matter to HIMARS how much live meat it will turn into dead meat when it comes to clashes in the current war? That is again an attempt to throw cannon fodder at the enemy. This attempt had some effect during World War II, but now the war is completely different. In fact, we really see a war of a completely different type, this will probably be studied a lot by military analysts and historians. But it is already clear that the ratio of manpower is not decisive. Therefore, what took place at the meeting of the Ministry of Defense (of the Russian Federation - ed.) indicates that Putin, not to mention the Minister of Defense, are both clueless about what is happening in the war," Yakovenko concluded.
