Ukrainian carriers prepare protest at three checkpoints in response to Polish blockade
In response to the blocking of the border by Polish farmers, Ukrainian carriers will launch a peaceful protest at three checkpoints with Poland on February 20
This was reported by Ukrinform, according to Espreso.
"The purpose of the peaceful gathering is to express the protest of Ukrainian carriers against the blocking of freight traffic, which began in November 2023, causing significant financial losses for the international road transportation industry of Ukraine, exporters and importers of both countries, and for the Ukrainian economy, and ultimately undermining Ukraine's defense capabilities under martial law. The situation with the blockade has not yet been resolved at the level of ministries, governments and presidents of Ukraine and Poland, so we are forced to take such actions," said Volodymyr Mykhalevych, Chairman of the International Road Carriers of Ukraine.
According to him, the peaceful action, organized by the International Road Carriers public organization, will begin on February 20, 2024 at noon, simultaneously at three international road checkpoints: Rava-Ruska, Krakivets, Shehyni.
The International Road Carriers of Ukraine organization will ensure control and traffic order through the listed checkpoints, not allowing Polish trucks to bypass the general queue of trucks. The campaign will run around the clock until March 15, 2024. Or until the borders are unblocked by Polish protesters.
- Earlier it was reported that Polish farmers promised to block all border crossings with Ukraine for a month starting February 20. At the same time, Ukrainian carriers held their own protest in response to the actions of Polish farmers.
- The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine stated that it had not received any information from the Polish side regarding a complete blockade of the border.
