Poland is ready to give Ukraine access to missile crash site, but with US consent
Ukrainian specialists can get access to the place where the missile fell in Poland, if American side does not object it
Jakub Kumoch, Head of the International Policy Bureau in the Chancellery of the President of Poland, told TVN24 on Thursday that Ukraine may get access to the crash site.
According to him, a Polish-American group of investigators is currently working at the scene.
"If both parties (Polish and American, - ed.) agree, and as far as I know, there will be no objection from the American side, then they (Ukrainian experts, - ed.) will soon be able to gain access (to the place where the missile fell, - ed.). If the investigative team does not have any comments at technical level, then there will probably be no reason to deny Ukrainians access", Kumoch said.
He noted that, apparently, one of the Ukrainian air defense missiles, which was launched to destroy a Russian one, did not hit the target, and its self-destruction system did not work. President Duda points out that experts are now calculating the direction of the missile's flight, the amount of fuel used, etc.
At the same time, Duda’s adviser noted that no one would blame Ukraine.
"It is not Ukrainians' fault that some self-destruction mechanism did not work in the Soviet equipment, that they had to use this equipment to protect their territory, and maybe even ours, because we do not know where these missiles flew, and whether this missile was poorly programmed", he emphasized.
