Poland accuses Germany of delaying the weapons that Warsaw was supposed to receive instead of the ones transferred to Ukraine
Polish Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Szymon Szynkowski has accused Germany of deceitful maneuvers regarding the replenishment of the stockpile of weapons that Poland transferred to Ukraine
This is reported by European Pravda.
"Germany's promises to provide tanks in exchange (for the supply of Polish tanks to Ukraine) turned out to be deceptive maneuvers", the publication quotes the words of a Polish diplomat from his conversation with Spiegel.
It is about the fact that at the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Germany proposed a "circular exchange" scheme instead of supplying a large amount of Western equipment. According to this scheme, other countries (currently Poland, Romania, the Czech Republic, and soon Slovakia) transfer their own stocks of Soviet equipment to Kyiv in exchange for more modern German equipment. However, according to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Szymon Szynkowski, Germany has not fulfilled its promises regarding the supply of weapons.
Back in May, Poland publicly stated that the tanks offered by Germany are obsolete. Berlin also offered to provide the Poles with 20 modern tanks, but only from the spring of 2023 and in the amount of one tank per month.
"We were offered a symbolic number of tanks. It is difficult to take this as a serious offer after we provided more than 200 tanks to Ukraine in two months", Szymon Shynkowski grumbles and adds that today Warsaw receives tanks from the USA and Great Britain.
