Pentagon orders six NASAMS air defense batteries for Ukraine for $1.2 billion
Pentagon will award American company Raytheon Technologies $1.2 billion contract for six advanced NASAMS air defense systems that will be delivered to Ukraine.

"As part of fifth package of initiatives to provide assistance to Ukraine in the field of security, the US Army signed $1.2 billion contract with Raytheon Missiles and Defense to supply Ukraine with six NASAMS batteries, training and logistical support for Ukrainian Armed Forces and security forces of Ukraine", the statement said.
Two NASAMS systems have already been handed over to Ukraine at the beginning of November, and Ukrainians have been trained in their use.
NASAMS is anti-aircraft missile complex designed to combat maneuvering aerodynamic targets, it can destroy UAVs, ballistic missiles, helicopters, aircraft, cruise missiles and other targets. Belongs to air defense systems of small-medium range. The complex was developed by Norwegian firm Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace and American firm Raytheon Technologies.
