Pentagon comments on Europeans’ intention to transfer tanks to Ukraine
The US Department of Defense supports the American allies’ statements about the intention to transfer Western-style tanks to Ukraine
This was announced by Patrick Ryder, the Pentagon spokesman, at the Thursday briefing, "European Truth" reports.
"Generally speaking, when it comes to tanks, air defense, or artillery, we continue to thoroughly discuss all this with our allies and partners. As you know, next week there will be a meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine, and I expect that it will also be discussed there," he said.
When asked about the Pentagon's position on the supply of tanks to Ukraine, Ryder noted that the U.S. Defense Department "absolutely supports all defense means that our international allies and partners can provide to Ukraine, including tanks."
"Again, this calculation includes the ability to carry out training for these assets, and to maintain them in working condition. This is part of any discussion, regardless of whether it is about the United States or about our partners. But we support the provision of any means to Ukraine that will give it an advantage on the battlefield," the Pentagon spokesman stressed.

No country has supplied Ukraine with Western-made tanks so far. The day before it became known that Poland is ready to transfer Leopard tanks, which are in service with the Polish army, to Ukraine. At the same time, London announced plans to transfer Challenger tanks, and Washington announced its readiness to send Bradley infantry fighting vehicles.

Experts note that the issue of tanks will be resolved at a meeting in the Ramstein format, and the head of the National Security and Defense Council Danilov assured that Ukrainian soldiers will master Leopard in a matter of weeks.
