Elections in Moldova: What conclusions can Ukraine draw

Everyone is legitimately and rightly admiring the results of the Moldovan vote in the diaspora. They deserve it, because the turnout was unprecedented

But in fact, we need to analyze the experience in the fight against the “Ilan Shor nets”. For me, this was the Achilles' heel of Moldova's democracy.

300,000 “electoral serfs” who can be handed over to someone is a serious resource. The current figures for the second round show that between 120,000 and 130,000 were neutralized.

However,  Sandu would have still won, as she secured more votes than all the pro-Russian and "neutral" candidates combined in the first round. At that time, if I recall correctly, they collectively received around 860,000 votes.

In fact, Moldovan law enforcement officials said they had documented 130,000 violations.

Public searches, indictments, text messages warning of the consequences of electoral corruption, and calls warning of the prospect of being arrested right before the election or the chance of a large fine have proven to be an effective mechanism.

It should be adopted!
