Olena Zelenska and King Charles III of Britain open centre for Ukrainians in London
On Wednesday, November 30, the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, met with the King of Great Britain, Charles III, to officially open a shelter for refugees from Ukraine at the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Cathedral in London
This was announced on Instagram by the press service of the British royal family.
"His Majesty the King joined the First Lady of Ukraine to officially open the new Hospitality Center at the Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral in London, where they met with staff, volunteers and families of displaced people from Ukraine. Created to assist Ukrainian citizens arriving in the UK, the centre is a point of contact for all the necessary information on arrival, settlement and long-term residence in the UK. It also acts as a social hub to help Ukrainians stay in touch with their culture and heritage," the statement said.
In her turn, Zelenska noted on Instagram that this is not the first meeting of Charles III with Ukrainians.
"I had the honour to meet personally with His Majesty King Charles III, who visited the Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral in London, on the territory of which the London Ukrainian Welcoming Center is also located. This is not the first time that His Majesty finds time and kind words to support forced displaced people from Ukraine — he recently visited them in Scotland, even earlier in Romania. I thanked on behalf of all Ukrainians for the help that the United Kingdom provides and will provide to Ukraine. Because here in London, at every step, during every meeting, I feel how this support is getting stronger - and our friendship is getting stronger," Zelenska wrote.
